Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Turkey Point Provincial Park is located on the north shore of Lake Erie in southwestern Ontario and encompasses a diverse natural landscape that includes sandy beaches, wetlands, and woodlands. The park covers over 316 hectares and is characterized by its mild Great Lakes climate, which supports a variety of flora and fauna native to the region. Historically, this area was used for fishing and recreation by early settlers and Indigenous peoples before becoming a designated provincial park. Visitors today can enjoy extensive recreational opportunities, including swimming along the sandy Lake Erie shoreline, paddling and canoeing on the calm waters of the lake and nearby creeks, and hiking on the park’s well-maintained trails that wind through hardwood forests and marsh habitats. Wildlife viewing is excellent with frequent sightings of waterfowl, shorebirds, and mammals such as white-tailed deer.
