Topsail Island Preserve is a significant section of North Carolina’s barrier island system, extending over approximately 28 miles along the Atlantic coast. The preserve protects vital coastal dunes, maritime forests, salt marshes, and tidal creeks, serving as critical habitat for numerous protected and migratory species.
