These cliffs reach heights of up to 601 meters (1,972 feet), making them among the highest in Europe. The SAC extends along the western Atlantic seaboard, covering coastal heathlands, rocky outcrops, and marine environments influenced by the North Atlantic. The area is renowned for its exceptional geological formations, including sheer vertical drops and deep sea stacks, attracting outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, and nature lovers worldwide.

The area is also significant for seabird colonies and is a critical breeding ground for species like the peregrine falcon and chough.

Visitors to the SAC can enjoy several marked trails ranging from moderate to challenging, culminating in breathtaking panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean. The iconic Bunglass and Teelin cliffs offer scenic overlooks and photo opportunities, while the nearby historic villages provide cultural context to the landscape.
