Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Sierra de Gredos Regional Park encompasses the central section of the Sierra de Gredos mountain range in the Iberian System of Spain. Spanning over 86,000 hectares, the park features sharp granite peaks, glacial cirques, pristine high-altitude lakes, and fertile valleys. Its highest point, Pico Almanzor, rises to 2,592 meters, making it the tallest summit in the range and a popular challenge for climbers. The park’s geography was shaped by past glaciations, evident in its rugged relief and moraine-strewn valleys. Ecologically, it supports a wide range of habitats from Mediterranean oak groves and juniper scrublands at lower elevations to alpine meadows and rocky outcrops.
