Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Located in Frankfort, Kentucky, the Salato Wildlife Education Center serves as the wildlife outreach and education facility for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Spanning approximately 100 acres, the Center is home to a wide range of native Kentucky species housed in naturalistic habitats, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. The facility provides engaging exhibits and educational programming aimed at increasing public understanding of wildlife conservation and the ecological importance of species native to Kentucky. The grounds also feature a pond, aviaries, and observation platforms that offer up-close wildlife viewing and interpretive signage.
