Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Located in the easternmost part of Bhutan, Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary covers an expanse of pristine landscapes ranging from broadleaf forests to alpine meadows. The sanctuary serves as a critical habitat for the elusive snow leopard and the Red Panda, amongst other rare and endangered species. Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary was specifically established to protect the culture, traditions, and environment of the Brokpa community, indigenous to this region. This area is also known for its captivating scenery and the remarkable diversity of flora and fauna.
