Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Established in 1983, Ras Mohammed National Park covers approximately 185 square miles of land and sea. It is bordered by the Gulf of Suez to the west and the Gulf of Aqaba to the east. The park is especially famous for its coral reef systems, which are considered among the best in the world for diving and snorkeling. The terrestrial areas boast unique ecosystems with mangroves, salt marshes, and a variety of desert vegetation. Historically, this area has been significant due to its strategic location, marking a point where Asia and Africa meet. Visitors to Ras Mohammed can enjoy not only the underwater wonders, including over 220 species of coral and 1,000 species of fish, but also a diverse array of birdlife and the breathtaking desert scenery. The combination of marine and desert landscapes makes it an attractive destination for adventurers and nature lovers alike.
