Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve encompasses approximately 366 acres in the western foothills of San Mateo County, situated near the Foothills Park and Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve. The preserve features a diverse landscape of Coast redwoods, oak woodlands, chaparral, and grasslands, providing habitat for a variety of wildlife including deer, bobcats, and numerous bird species. Historically, the land was logged in the 19th century and later used as a park site, with some remnants of its past still visible along the trails. Today, Pulgas Ridge offers over six miles of multi-use trails suited for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use. The terrain ranges from gentle strolls to moderate climbs, making it accessible to visitors of different skill levels.
