About Phu Phan National Park

Phu Phan National Park

Phu Phan National Park covers an area of mountainous terrain within the Phu Phan mountain range, spanning parts of Sakon Nakhon and Kalasin provinces in northeastern Thailand. Established in 1985, the park protects forested highlands rising up to 900 meters above sea level, featuring a combination of dry dipterocarp forests and evergreen patches, providing habitat for a diverse range of flora and fauna. The park's geography includes rugged ridges, deep valleys, sandstone cliffs, and notable waterfalls such as Huai Ha and Tat Yai falls, which serve as popular natural attractions. The park is also home to archaeological sites reflecting ancient Khorat culture and local hill tribe communities, which enhances its cultural significance. Visitors can explore a variety of trails that lead through scenic viewpoints and forested paths, along with opportunities to see wildlife such as deer, wild boars, and numerous bird species. Recreational activities focus primarily on hiking, wildlife watching, and visiting scenic waterfalls. The park's relatively remote location contributes to its peaceful atmosphere and lower visitor density compared to other national parks in Thailand. Phu Phan National Park offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, attracting eco-tourists and those interested in exploring northeastern Thailand's landscapes beyond typical tourist routes.
