Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Parque Nacional da Cangandala covers a relatively small area in Angola's Malanje Province, established primarily to protect the rare and iconic Giant Sable Antelope. This national park, characterized by its grasslands, woodlands, and riverine environments, provides vital habitats for the conservation of several wildlife species endemic to Angola. Besides the celebrated antelopes, visitors can encounter a variety of bird species, primates, and other mammals. Historically, the park was designated in 1963, with renewed conservation efforts taking place after the Angolan Civil War, emphasizing the safeguarding of its unique biodiversity. The park offers visitors the chance to explore its rich landscapes through guided tours, where they can witness not only its famed antelopes but also appreciate its diverse ecosystems and scenic natural beauty.
