Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Parc National La Visite, established in 1983, spans the mountainous regions of southeastern Haiti, providing a crucial habitat for a variety of endemic species. The park's elevation ranges from 1,250 to over 2,300 meters, offering cool, misty climates conducive to dense pine woodlands and montane thickets. Wildlife includes the endemic Hispaniolan trogon, among other bird species. La Visite's biodiversity makes it an important area for conservation efforts, especially against deforestation and land degradation. Hiking is a major attraction, with the park featuring trails that traverse through its varied terrain, showcasing panoramic views of the Caribbean from high altitudes. Its historical significance, combined with natural beauty, draws both local and international visitors eager to connect with Haiti's natural heritage.
