Spanning approximately 1,200 hectares, the sanctuary comprises coastal mangroves, mudflats, and seagrass beds that support a remarkable diversity of bird species, especially migratory shorebirds traveling the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. Over 90 bird species have been recorded here, including globally threatened species such as the Chinese Egret, Mongolian Plover, and the critically endangered Nordmann's Greenshank.
