The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, situated in the Tilarán Mountain Range, is a vital sanctuary for a vast array of biodiversity. Spanning over 35,089 acres, the reserve is celebrated for its dense cloud forest environment, characterized by persistent mist, high humidity, and a rich assemblage of flora and fauna. This region is home to more than 2,500 plant species, including an astounding 420 types of orchids. The wildlife is equally impressive, featuring over 100 species of mammals, 400 bird species like the resplendent quetzal, and numerous reptiles and amphibians. Established in 1972, Monteverde has been a magnet for ecotourists and researchers alike. Visitors can traverse miles of trails that wind through the ethereal forest, healthily explore the extensive trail system, or engage in guided bird-watching tours.
