Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Lagoon Valley Regional Park is located in southeastern Solano County, California, near the city of Fairfield. Covering over 500 acres, the park is anchored by a 90-acre reservoir that serves as a focal point for water-based activities such as fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The surrounding grassy hills, oak woodlands, and rolling terrain provide an excellent setting for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use. The park was established as a county regional park with the goal of preserving open space and providing outdoor recreation opportunities for the rapidly growing communities of Solano County.
Ecologically, Lagoon Valley supports a range of native plants like blue oak, valley oak, wildflowers, and grasses that bloom with seasonal rain. The reservoir is stocked with trout and bass, while the open spaces offer habitat for birds, deer, and small mammals. Historically, the site was used for quarry operations before its transition to parkland in the early 21st century.
Visitors appreciate the blend of water and land recreation options, well-maintained trails, picnic areas, and a peaceful rural setting close to urban centers. A popular fishing spot, the lake also hosts wildlife viewing alongside scenic views of the surrounding hills. The park’s camping facilities accommodate tents and RVs, making Lagoon Valley a favored local destination for family outings, outdoor sports, and nature observation.
