Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Kashubian Landscape Park (Kaszubski Park Krajobrazowy), established in 1983, spans over a diverse terrain of glacial hills, numerous lakes, forests, and meadows in the Pomeranian Voivodeship of northern Poland. It showcases the characteristic Kashubian region’s natural beauty and cultural landscapes, with an emphasis on preserving the traditional rural atmosphere alongside ecological values. The park’s geography is defined by moraine hills formed during the last Ice Age, with altitudes ranging mostly between 150 to 300 meters above sea level, creating a charming mix of wooded hills and reflective waters. Key ecological features include mixed coniferous and deciduous forests, freshwater lakes, and wetlands supporting a diverse range of flora and fauna, including numerous bird species like black storks and white-tailed eagles. The park is also an important area for cultural tourism, featuring traditional Kashubian villages with wooden architecture, local handicrafts, and cuisine. Outdoor recreation thrives here, with a network of hiking and cycling trails that allow visitors to explore scenic viewpoints, pristine lakeshores, and historic sites such as the Wdzydze Kiszewskie open-air museum. Popular activities include kayaking, fishing, and nature photography. The park’s appeal lies in its blend of natural serenity, rich biodiversity, and cultural heritage, making it a favored destination for eco-tourism and family-friendly outdoor adventures.
