Established in 1937, Itatiaia National Park is the oldest national park in Brazil, located within the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. The park spans a range of altitudes, from lowland forests to high-altitude peaks exceeding 9,000 feet. This diversity creates various ecosystems, home to unique flora and fauna, including endemic species such as the Itatiaia Spinetail, a bird endemic to the region.
