Foster Creek Conservation Area is located in north-central Missouri near Chillicothe and covers a mix of bottomland forests, wetlands, and upland woodlands. The area was established to protect and restore the habitats along Foster Creek, a tributary of the Grand River. It features gently rolling terrain with hardwood species including oak, hickory, and sycamore supporting an array of wildlife. The wetlands provide breeding grounds for waterfowl and migratory birds, making it a popular spot for birdwatching, especially during migration seasons. Founded in 1977, the conservation area was developed through cooperative efforts between state agencies and local communities focused on habitat restoration and public recreation.
