Esher Commons is composed of four distinct areas: Esher Common, Esher Green, West End Common, and Ditton Common, covering a total of over 360 hectares of heathland, woodland, and grassland. The Commons sit southwest of London and provide a valuable green space within a predominantly urbanized region. The area supports a variety of plant and animal species including ancient oaks, birch, and heathland flora such as ling heather and gorse. It is also an important habitat for bird species like the nightjar and woodlark, both of which breed on the heath.
