Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Entabeni Game Reserve spans approximately 22,000 hectares in South Africa’s Limpopo Province, positioned on the Waterberg Plateau. The reserve features a varied topography with rugged mountains, open savannah plains, and dense bushveld, supporting a wealth of flora and fauna. Entabeni is home to a broad diversity of wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros), as well as cheetah, hippo, giraffe, zebra, and a rich array of bird species. The reserve’s name, meaning 'Place of the Mountain' in Zulu, reflects its mountainous terrain, carved by rivers and natural springs. Established as a private wildlife sanctuary, Entabeni is committed to conservation and eco-tourism, balancing responsible wildlife management with high-end safari tourism. Visitors can engage in guided game drives, walking safaris, and bird watching, with accommodations ranging from luxury lodges to intimate bush camps. The reserve also offers mountain biking trails and helicopter flights for aerial views of the vast protected area. The Waterberg Mountains in the backdrop provide dramatic scenery, while the Entabeni Nature Reserve area within the larger complex offers hiking and river fishing opportunities. The reserve appeals to visitors seeking wildlife encounters in a less crowded, exclusive setting with abundant photographic and outdoor opportunities. Its conservation initiatives help protect endangered species and maintain the natural ecosystems that have existed for millennia.
