Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Deosai National Park, sprawling across the western Himalayas in northern Pakistan, encompasses an impressive blend of lush plateaus, expansive grasslands, and pristine water systems. Covering over 3,000 square kilometers, it stands as one of the highest plateaus in the world at an average elevation of over 4,000 meters. The park was established in 1993 mainly to protect the critically endangered Himalayan brown bear, along with other unique flora and fauna adapted to the inhospitable conditions of the Alpine tundra. Seasonal wildflowers blanket the park, adding vibrant colors to the stunning landscape each summer. Recreational activities are abundant, as visitors can hike the gentle slopes, enjoy birdwatching with species like the golden eagle and lammergeier, or camp under crystal-clear starry skies. Its ecological significance, coupled with unmatched natural beauty, draws nature enthusiasts and adventurers from around the globe, solidifying its status as a quintessential outdoor destination.
