Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Designated in 1992, Calumpang Cove Protected Landscape covers approximately 1,311 hectares of mountainous forest in the municipality of Calatagan, Batangas. The area serves a critical role in watershed protection, supplying water to nearby communities and supporting diverse flora and fauna endemic to southern Luzon. The topography is characterized by rolling hills and steep slopes covered with dipterocarp forest, interspersed with freshwater streams and springs that feed the Calumpang River. Rich biodiversity includes native bird species, amphibians, and various endemic plant species. The protected landscape is an important ecological refuge amid expanding agricultural lands and coastal development.
