Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Brodnica Landscape Park (Polish: Brodnicki Park Krajobrazowy) encompasses approximately 24,000 hectares of mainly forested terrain interspersed with numerous lakes and wetlands. Established in 1985, the park is located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland, near the town of Brodnica. The park lies within the historic Brodnica Lake District, which is renowned for its glacially-carved landscape featuring rolling hills, moraines, and kettle lakes. Ecosystems within the park are diverse, consisting of mixed and coniferous forests, peat bogs, and extensive aquatic habitats. The region supports a variety of wildlife including native deer, wild boar, and numerous bird species such as white-tailed eagles and cranes. Popular outdoor activities in the park include hiking along well-marked trails, canoeing and kayaking on the network of lakes and rivers, bird watching, and cycling through scenic forest routes. Visitors are drawn to the park’s natural beauty and tranquility, as well as cultural sites like the small historic towns nearby. The park's management emphasizes preservation of its unique environments while accommodating eco-tourism. Facilities and signage support visitors wishing to explore its varied landscapes. Brodnica Landscape Park offers a balanced destination for those interested in nature immersion combined with opportunities for active recreation in a lesser-known but ecologically significant region of Poland.
