Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

The Bridger Range is a 40-mile long mountain range located in southwestern Montana, immediately northwest of Bozeman. It forms a portion of the iconic Rocky Mountains. The range is named after the famous mountain man Jim Bridger and stands as a striking feature of the region's landscape with peaks exceeding 9,000 feet. The topography is characterized by prominent ridges, deep valleys, and scenic overlooks offering expansive views of the surrounding areas. The range is home to a variety of ecosystems, ranging from dense conifer forests to alpine meadows, providing a habitat for wildlife such as black bears, mountain goats, and elk.
