Located near Rockton in northern Illinois, Black Hawk State Historic Site spans approximately 1,600 acres that include rolling prairie, woodlands, and bluffs overlooking the Rock River. Wildlife viewing opportunities include white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and a variety of songbirds, particularly in spring and fall migrations. Scenic overlooks along the Rock River provide picturesque settings for photography and nature observation. The site also hosts educational programs and special events focusing on Illinois history and environmental stewardship.
