Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Ba Vi National Park is located in northern Vietnam, spanning the Vĩnh Phúc province and the western edge of Hanoi. The park centers around the Ba Vi mountain range, with three prominent peaks, including the highest peak, Tan Vien, which rises to 1,296 meters (4,252 feet) above sea level. It covers an area of about 10,815 hectares, featuring a mix of tropical and subtropical evergreen forests, rich biodiversity, and several endemic plant and animal species. The park's ecosystem supports over 1,000 plant species and various wildlife like monkeys, birds, and small mammals. Established originally as a protected area in 1991, Ba Vi National Park has become a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, cultural tourists, and researchers.
Visitors can enjoy well-maintained hiking trails that lead to panoramic views of the Red River Delta and the surrounding countryside. The park contains historical sites such as the ruins of an old French colonial church and temples including Thien Son and Nam Son, located near the summit area. These places offer insight into the historical and spiritual significance of Ba Vi. The cooler mountain climate provides a refreshing escape from the heat of Hanoi. Key recreation activities include hiking, bird watching, picnicking, and exploring waterfalls like Tan Vien and Bac Xuan. Ba Vi also attracts photographers for its misty mornings, lush vegetation, and architectural relics amidst the natural setting. The park's accessibility from Hanoi and its combination of nature, history, and recreation appeal to both local and international visitors.
