Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Ankasa Game Reserve is one of Ghana's most significant natural attractions, known for its dense tropical rainforests and diverse ecological offerings. It covers an area deeply integrated with biodiversity, hosting over 800 plant species and an abundance of wildlife, including elephants, chimpanzees, and a myriad of butterfly species. The reserve is part of the Ankasa Conservation Area, which also includes the Nini-Suhien National Park. Historically, this area has been less disturbed by human activity compared to other regions, making it a vital sanctuary for many species. It offers a rich variety of recreational opportunities; visitors can engage in guided tours, bird watching, and explore its network of trails. Notable features include the Ankasa River that provides a natural spectacle and contributes to the area's lush flora. Its appeal lies in the untouched nature and the possibility of serene encounters with wildlife in a natural habitat.
