The Altopiano di Asiago Protected Landscape encompasses a broad highland plateau stretching over approximately 550 square kilometers in the Vicenza province of northeastern Italy's Veneto region. This protected area features a mosaic of alpine meadows, dense coniferous and deciduous forests, karstic plateaus, and numerous karst caves, supporting a rich variety of flora and fauna characteristic of the pre-Alpine environment. Geographically, the plateau sits at an average elevation of roughly 1,000 meters and includes peaks rising above 2,200 meters, such as Cima Ekar. Historically, the Altopiano di Asiago is renowned for its significant role during World War I, with well-preserved trenches, forts, and open-air museums drawing history enthusiasts. Ecologically, it sustains populations of species such as roe deer, chamois, golden eagles, and rare orchids, highlighting its conservation value. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore an extensive trail network ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding in summer, while winter attracts cross-country skiing and snowshoeing visitors. Notable landmarks include the Asiago War Memorial, the Natural Karst Phenomena of Carso Asiago, and various alpine lakes.
