Pirin National Park is located in southwestern Bulgaria, encompassing a substantial part of the Pirin Mountains. The park covers an area of about 106,000 acres and is famous for its diverse ecosystems, ranging from Mediterranean to alpine climates. This UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts over 70 glacial lakes, ancient forests, and rugged peaks exceeding 8,200 feet, with Vihren Peak being the highest at 9,560 feet. Ecologically, the park is home to over 1,300 plant species, including endemic ones like the Pirin poppy.
