Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Parque Nacional Canaima, located in the southeastern part of Venezuela in the Bolívar state, spans over 12,000 square miles and is characterized by its unique geography of tepuis, ancient flat-topped mountains that rise dramatically from the surrounding jungle. This park is home to the renowned Angel Falls, the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall, which plunges 3,212 feet from the summit of Auyán-tepui. The park was established in 1962 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its extraordinary landscapes that hold significant cultural importance for the Indigenous Pemon people. The diverse ecosystems within the park support a rich variety of wildlife, including jaguars, giant anteaters, and a plethora of bird species.
