Mississippi River State Forest is a 45,000-acre expanse located in east-central Minnesota, spanning portions of Wabasha and Winona counties along the Mississippi River. The forest is characterized by steep river bluffs, hardwood and conifer forests, wetlands, and floodplain environments that support a diverse range of plant and animal species. Its proximity to the Mississippi River adds rich riparian habitats that attract numerous bird species, including bald eagles and osprey.
