Lubrecht Experimental Forest, located approximately 30 miles northeast of Missoula, Montana, spans around 28,000 acres. It serves both as a research facility for the University of Montana’s College of Forestry and Conservation and as a public resource for recreation and education. The forest features a variety of ecosystems ranging from coniferous forests to riparian zones along the Blackfoot River. Established in 1937, the forest is used for long-term ecological and forestry research. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy numerous trails for hiking and mountain biking, while the scenic Blackfoot River offers fishing opportunities. The forest is also a prime location for bird watching and observing other wildlife. Additionally, the venue is used for educational programs and workshops, making it a valuable resource for both the scientific community and the general public.
