Aarey Milk Colony is a vital urban forest located in the heart of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Established in 1949, it covers nearly 3,000 acres and serves as a green lung for the bustling city. The area is characterized by dense forests, grasslands, and a network of rivers and lakes, hosting a diverse range of flora and fauna. Over 76 species of birds, 86 species of butterflies, and various reptiles and mammals, including leopards, find a home here. Historically, the colony was developed for dairy farming and has been a significant contributor to the milk supply in Mumbai. Today, it attracts nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts who participate in activities such as hiking, wildlife photography, and picnicking. The area also includes a popular garden with attractions for families, making it a wholesome escape for urban residents.
