About Renziehausen Park

Renziehausen Park is a 120-acre municipal park located in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, along the Youghiogheny River. Established in the early 20th century, the park provides a peaceful natural retreat within the urban environment of McKeesport, part of the greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Its landscape features rolling hills, mature hardwood forests, landscaped gardens, and riverfront views. The park is well known for the Renziehausen Memorial Amphitheater, a notable outdoor venue for concerts and community events, as well as the award-winning botanical gardens that include a variety of native and cultivated plant species.

The park’s over 6 miles of trails cater to hikers, bird watchers, and nature lovers, weaving through forested sections and open spaces. These trails are mostly easy to moderate, making the park accessible for all ages and skill levels. Throughout the year, visitors can explore wildflower blooms in spring, vibrant fall foliage, and peaceful winter scenes. It also offers facilities for picnicking, playgrounds for children, and an outdoor swimming pool for summer recreation. The riverfront location provides opportunities for fishing and contemplation of waterfront wildlife.

Renziehausen Park is a beloved green space that supports diverse ecosystems, including woodlands home to typical eastern Pennsylvania fauna such as white-tailed deer, red foxes, and numerous bird species. The park’s history dates back to a land donation from the Renziehausen family, intended to provide a lasting public space for relaxation and enjoyment. Its blend of natural beauty, cultural venues, and easy accessibility makes it a popular destination for residents and visitors alike.
