It is also home to Thunder Mountain Bike Park, which is highly rated for downhill biking. The resort began operations in the 1970s on the site of what was originally the Thunder Mountain Ski Area. Historically, the region was central to the Mohawk Trail, a trade route before becoming a tourist road.
