The park centers around the 385-acre Stony Creek Lake, created by a dam on Stony Creek, which provides opportunities for fishing, non-motorized boating, and scenic views. Surrounding the lake, the park features hardwood forests, wetlands, meadows, and a network of trails totaling over 14 miles, suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian riding. The park's topography includes rolling hills and diverse plant communities that support wildlife such as white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and numerous songbirds. Stony Creek Metropark also has picnic areas, a splash pad for children, playscapes, and an 18-hole golf course, making it a multi-use space for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Established in 1964 as part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system, the park preserves natural habitat while offering urban-area residents extensive outdoor recreation options.
