Fort DeSoto Park Adventures

Fort DeSoto Park spans over 1,100 acres of protected land and consists of five interconnected islands (keys) in the Gulf of Mexico. This park is renowned for its scenic beaches, historical remnants of the early 20th-century fort, lush mangroves, and fertile wetlands that host a diversity of wildlife, including over 328 bird species. Historically, the fort was built in 1898 as a coastal defense against potential attacks during the Spanish-American War.
