Rock Springs Conservation Area spans approximately 2,154 acres in Macon County, Illinois, featuring a rich mix of prairie, woodland, and wetlands. Originally a quarry site, the area was reclaimed and transformed into a natural habitat that supports a wide variety of plants and wildlife. The terrain includes gentle hills, mature forests, open grasslands, and a network of well-maintained multi-use trails totaling more than 25 miles. Visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding on designated bridle trails, and wildlife observation, particularly the seasonal presence of migratory birds and several native Illinois species.
