About Devou Park

Devou Park is a 700-acre city park located in Covington, Kentucky, perched atop a bluff overlooking the Ohio River and the city of Cincinnati, Ohio. Established in 1908 and operated by the Kenton County Parks, the park provides a significant natural and recreational resource for the Northern Kentucky region. The terrain includes rolling woodlands, open grassy areas, and wooded trails, making it a versatile outdoor destination. Its elevation offers remarkable vistas from the park’s overlooks, especially the Devou Park Overlook, which attracts visitors for photography and sightseeing. Ecologically, the park supports mixed hardwood forests typical of the Ohio River Valley, with abundant native flora and fauna including white-tailed deer, various songbirds, and seasonal wildflowers.

Devou Park is rich in history, originating from the Devou family’s land donation in the early 20th century. Over the years, it has expanded and developed numerous amenities including playgrounds, picnic areas, tennis courts, and an 18-hole golf course designed to challenge players. Trail enthusiasts can enjoy a network of multi-use paths for walking, running, and mountain biking, winding through the wooded hills and river bluffs. The park also hosts events, concerts, and community activities throughout the year, adding cultural appeal to its natural setting. Visitors appreciate the balance of urban access and natural retreat within a short drive from Cincinnati and surrounding communities.
