Why Choose Superior Fall Trail Race?

Legacy & Prestige

The Superior 100 Mile Trail Race was founded in 1991 and holds the distinction of being the 9th oldest 100-mile trail race in the U.S.. Runners consider it part of the nation’s most revered ultra-distance races, with many comparing its difficulty to Western States, Leadville, and Wasatch 100.

Brutal Yet Beautiful Course

Athletes must tackle a course that includes over 21,000 feet of elevation gain, relentless ascents, technical descents, and terrain that tests even experienced trail runners. The wild, remote atmosphere enhances the challenge, requiring physical endurance and mental resilience. At the same time, runners enjoy spectacular views of the largest freshwater lake in the world and traverse towering ridges, cascading waterfalls, and lush pine & birch forests.

Community & Conservation

This race is more than competition; it fosters a deep connection between runners, volunteers, and the environment. Through its partnership with the Superior Hiking Trail Association, the event has donated $45,000 annually to trail maintenance efforts.
