Wander Through the Serene Paths of Bar Harbor's Nature Trails

Scenic Walks at Jesup Path and Hemlock Path Loop, Bar Harbor

Located just outside the vibrant town of Bar Harbor, Maine, Jesup Path and Hemlock Path Loop offer visitors a refreshing gateway into Acadia National Park’s quieter side. These connected trails wind through peaceful wetlands and lush forests, distinguishing themselves with an easy-to-moderate layout ideal for all skill levels. Unlike the more strenuous hiking routes in the park, these paths provide a relaxing stroll amid nature’s calming sights and sounds.

Jesup Path is known for its elevated boardwalks stretching across wetland ecosystems, offering close-up views of local grasses, ferns, and seasonal wildflowers. Visitors often note the soothing coolness beneath the thick birch trees and the chance to encounter wildlife such as songbirds and occasionally, owls quietly perched near the trail. Hemlock Path complements this experience with tall, dense hemlock trees that create a natural canopy, shading walkers and offering a quiet shelter from summer heat or light rain. The terrain maintains a gentle grade, making it particularly welcoming for families and those seeking peaceful reflection amid nature’s calm.

These trails carry a subtle cultural significance as well, reflecting the area’s Native American heritage and longstanding protection within Acadia National Park. Well-maintained and accessible year-round, Jesup and Hemlock Paths reward visitors with a satisfying break from more crowded parts of the park while highlighting Maine’s distinctive forest and wetland habitats. Whether enjoying a cool summer afternoon or the vivid colors of fall, this loop offers a memorable experience that captures the natural charm of the region.
