About this Experience

The Zookeeper Mentor Program is a personalized experience for people aged 13 and up with a strong interest in learning firsthand about a career as a Zookeeper.

You will spend half a day at the Wild Wonder’s wildlife center in Bonsall, working side-by-side with professional zookeepers. By participating in the diet preparation, enrichment, and other animal care tasks, participants will gain an appreciation of the work that keepers do on a daily basis.

In this unique, hands-on program, participants will discover that it takes dedication and hard work to work in the animal field.

This is a unique interactive ONE ON ONE experience that will be customized towards your interests and is offered year-round, and includes a tour of our facility.

What to bring

MASK - Each ZMP is tailored for the participant's interest. Depending on the focus, you might be working with an animal for which there is no COVID vaccine yet. If so, during your interaction, you may be asked to wear a mask. A mask is not required for your included Behind the Scenes Tour. Note that this is the same expectations we have for our staff and volunteers.
