Teams peel off in different directions, phones in hand, following an app that hands out survival items and dares — each completed task a little victory against an imaginary apocalypse. The streets hum with real life: tasting-room chatter, the hum of highway traffic on the valley edge, and the occasional crow scolding from a telephone wire.
