You push through the gate before dawn and the island still breathes quietly — olive-scented air, a single minivan route winding over limestone ridges toward the west coast. By the time the boat eases from Porto Vromi, the sea is a hard, bright sheet and the cliffs throw sharp shadows; the shipwreck cove appears like a carved amphitheater, empty of sunbathers and buzzing boats.
