Come prepared to get wet! We will be spending most of our time on the water! Each paddler must be comfortable being in the water if they were to capsize.
Attire should be appropriate for paddling: Swim suits and a non- cotton synthetic shirt under life jacket is recommended to prevent rubbing of life jacket. Water shoes are required.
Porta potty onsite.
Every paddle session requires a USCG-approved life jacket to keep kids safe on the water.
Staying hydrated in the summer heat is key—encourage kids to drink water before, during, and after paddling.
Prevent sunburns with a broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF to protect skin exposed during the session.
Dress in lightweight, quick-dry materials to stay comfortable during wet outdoor activity.
The region’s waterways were historically vital to Native American trade routes and later contributed to Akron’s development as a canal hub in the 1800s.
