The raft kicks and yawns as you shove off from the gravel carpark at the end of Lower Homestead Road. Native eucalypts press close to the riverbank and a cool, tannin-dark current pulls the two-person inflatable toward the first riffle. Guides check helmets and GoPro mounts with brisk, practiced hands; then it’s paddle commands, a collective shove and the river takes over.
