Step off Canada Street into a bright tasting room where the lake air slips in between conversations and a concierge pours the first sample. The Works Tasting Session at Adirondack Winery plants you in the social center of Lake George village: a compact hour of guided flights, a sparkling welcome, and a small plate of locally sourced snacks that frames each pour.
The region sits at the southern edge of the Adirondack foothills, carved by glaciers and fed by mountain streams that shape local agriculture. Wine and cider here are young industries shaped by microclimates and tourism; Adirondack Winery operates tasting rooms in Lake George and Queensbury, offering handcrafted wines alongside cider and American oak whiskeys. The cultural draw is casual—tourists, lake-goers and locals mingle without formality.
Expect a structured tasting: seven wine pours or alternative cider/whiskey flights, one premium pour, a seasonal hot or frozen finish, and a take-home souvenir glass. The room is wheelchair accessible and small-group focused, making it intimate rather than theatrical.
Practical notes: bring valid government ID (21+), book in advance for peak summer and holiday weekends, and allow about 60 minutes. Parking in the village is limited—arrive on foot, by shuttle, or plan for nearby municipal lots. If you plan to drive afterward, designate a sober driver or use a rideshare. Wear comfortable shoes for walking the lakeside afterward and consider a light layer for cooler evenings.
This is a relaxed, approachable tasting—ideal for travelers who want a curated local sampling without a formal cellar tour.
The experience runs approximately 60 minutes and includes guided flights, a premium pour, snacks, and a souvenir glass.
