Join our women's surf classes starting mid-October for an empowering and fun experience! Enjoy expert instruction in a supportive environment, whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills. With flexible scheduling and a vibrant community, it's the perfect opportunity to ride the waves and make lasting memories.

Download The App / Free Surf Lesson Notifications Our classes run every day surf is up and by downloading the Wellington Surf Lessons App you can receive notifications on your phone 2-3 days prior to when we are running classes. This is important as lessons are surf/weather dependant which means we may not have all our lesson times available on the calendar until a few days prior.

Note: If you have booked a surf lesson in advance and the weather conditions are not suitable for surfing we will offer you an alternative day to book.

About

Our Women's surf classes are a great way to get in to surfing, improve your skills and most importantly have fun with like-minded women in a safe, friendly and non judgemental environment.

Surf classes run from October through until the end of April, which will give you plenty of days to take lessons.

Beginner Classes

  • Surfboard and beach safety
  • Where to lie on the board / body positioning
  • How to find the perfect trim
  • Correct stance and posture
  • How to get through the waves properly
  • Learn the best pop up technique for you based on you

Intermediate Classes

  • Advanced pop up technniques
  • Learn where to best position your self to catch the best waves
  • How to read green waves
  • How to catch unbroken waves
  • Understanding slope drag
  • How to ride across the wave effectively
  • How do do top turns

Recommended Lesson Plan For New Surfers

The lessons are progressive so we recommend students take the following weekly lessons.

  • x4 beginner lessons alongside some practise rentals
  • x4 intermediate classes alongside some practise rentals

  • We use the Surfing NZ Approved Softboards which are easy to balance, paddle, stand & turn on

  • Super warm C-Skins wetsuits

  • 1.5 hours of expert instruction from qualified Surfing NZ Instructors

  • Discounts on boards, wetsuits and accessories at our Surf Shop

Extra Accessories

Booties, gloves and hoods are $10 a pair and need to be booked and paid for on arrival. Will be first in first served on available sizes.
