Dawn arrives on the steppe as a clean, metallic cold: breath rolls out in white and the dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai pick up the first, pale light. On this two-day winter stay you leave Ulaanbaatar before sunrise and drive into a landscape where sand whispers against grassland and mountain shadows stretch long across frozen streams. The ger—the circular felt home—becomes your base: a stove-fed center where stories, tea and simple food anchor each day.
