About

This tour will give you the chance to visit two of the most beautiful Tuscan Medieval town, Montepulciano and Pienza, plus tasting another great Tuscan red wine, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and the tasty traditional "pecorino" cheese made in Pienza area.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a red wine with a DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) status made primarily from the Sangiovese grape varietal known locally as Prugnolo gentile (minimum 70%), blended with Canaiolo Nero (10%–20%) and small amounts of other local varieties such as Mammolo. And pecorino cheese perfectly pairs with it...

Once in the area we will visit the town of Pienza, UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996. We will then move to an organic farm producing the famous DOP "Pecorino di Pienza" cheese, learning about production sytem and tasting it during a Tuscan lunch based on the products coming directly from the farm.

In the early afternoon we will stop in Montepulciano area, where the famous Nobile di Montepulciano red wine is produced. We will visit a boutique winery and have a wine tasting.

As for the other wine tours we have selected small, family run wine farms, where we use to buy wines for ourselves. So we'll try to let you live not only an ordinary wine and food tour, but also to share with you a human experience and to “explore" the lifestyle of our region. Visits to farms will not be just a quick stop for a glass of wine, but a real “intercultural experience“.
