About

If you really want to see our unique and iconic Australian koala at its best then this experience is for you. Koalas sleep on average 18-20 hours per day but in the morning at their feeding time you will get to see them awake and active. You will get exclusive early entry into Maru at 9am before it opens for other visitors and join our keepers as they provide fresh gum leaves for the koalas and learn about the species, their threats, conservation status and how you can help.

You will have the opportunity to get close to the koalas and feel the coat of one of them and can take as many photos as you like to capture this experience. The keepers will introduce you to the koalas by name and character as you immerse yourself in their habitat and assist with the morning feed. You will have exclusive access to the koala area and also have bonus opportunities to interact with some of our wallabies that are in this area! This truly is a very unique experience to be able to enjoy the koalas being awake and observe how they interact with the leaf, each other and their habitat. You will also be provided with a voucher for a scone and hot drink from our Homestead Bistro to enjoy at your leisure anytime before 11:30am.

You can take as many photos as you like on your own devices.
